Pharmacy Informatics Specialist is responsible for Clinical Informatics Support particularly in automation of all pharmaceutical processes, including; medication ordering, dispensing and administration record for both inpatient and outpatient. Working closely with the Informatics, physicians, nurses and Technical Support teams this specialist will lead the troubleshooting of any medication process issues.
They will also be involved in the broader aspect of safe CPOE medication implementation, clinical decision support, problem identification and resolution and supporting and training our physicians, clinicians and pharmacist when required.
Works with Medical Informatics officer and Chief Information Officer/Director of IT and other information technology personnel, physicians and other hospital departments to assure the successful integration of the hospital’s clinical Information Technology with the overall hospital information system as it relates to prescriber order entry and medications
Keeps the Medical Informatics Officer and the Chief Information Officer/ Director of Information Technology, informed of all events affecting the timely installation and successful operation of the hospital’s clinical Information Technology, including dictionary building, software testing, personnel training, and placement and proper functioning of hardware and network resources as it relates to the pharmacy.
Perform other duties and responsibilities for which the individual is qualified, as requested by IT Leadership
Support other duties and responsibilities for which the individual is qualified, as requested by Pharmacy Leadership.
Ability to educate and train physicians, pharmacist, nurses and ancillary staff on system workflow, design and actual changes proposed
Demonstrates independent decision making as appropriate when evaluating change requests for system improvements and determines feasibility and advisability of system changes
Responsible for effective process design, development and implementation of Electronic medical records related to medication process from ordering, dispensing and administration for both inpatient and outpatient
Well developed written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
Must have competency in using PC hardware and software Skills including Microsoft word/excel/powerpoint and outlook.
Must have interest in computerisation and its potential to improve hospital processes
Must have Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy
Preferably Registered pharmacist with DOH or MOH UAE
Health informatics Degree recommended
Minimum 2 years experience in inpatient hospital setting post certification
Must have knowledge of hospital, clinical and ancillary services operating procedures and how departments interrelate
Experience with pharmacy automation, pharmacy knowledge management (eg. FDB) and hospital information system is a plus
Experience with maintaining and updating custom order sets in regards to medications using the vendor provided evidence (ZYNX) is a plus
