Dubai, UAE: 7 November 2012 – The American Hospital Dubai has appointed Dr. Sudhir Pandya as a Gastroenterologist (a specialist in the digestive systems and its disorders) at the hospital’s Dubai campus. The medical staff is currently undergoing rapid development as the campus continues to grow, with the team of American Board Certified (or equivalent) physicians set to reach 100 by the end of 2012 as the range of medical services develops.
Dr Pandya undertook his basic medical training at the University of Nairobi, Kenya in 1984. He completed his American Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1992. In 1995, he obtained his American Board Certification of Gastroenterology and also acquired his Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians, Canada (FRCPC) in 1994 and Fellowship in Gastroenterology from the Royal College of Physicians, Canada in 1996. Prior to joining the American Hospital Dubai , Dr. Pandya was a Gastroenterologist at Halton Healthcare Services, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Sudhir is also qualified in therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a medical technique combining the use of endoscopy and fluoroscopy to diagnose and treat certain digestive problems.
With an endoscope, the physician can see directly the inside of the stomach and duodenum, and inject dyes into areas so they can be seen on X-rays. Dr Pandya also has extensive experience in the latest treatments for inflammatory bowel diseases.
