Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will showcase several smart healthcare services including the patient centric application known as Sehhaty(my health) at GITEX 2014.
GITEX is one of the world’s three biggest events specialising in technology and communications. As a Governmental entity, DHA takes part every year in the Dubai Smart Government’s stand to showcase its smart services.
His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the DHA, said: “DHA’s smart health strategy is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a smart city so that government organizations in Dubai provide their customers with smart services that are convenient and can be accessed through various kinds of technology. Our strategy is aligned with Dubai smart government approach and is designed to ensure both systems and services are electronic. This means patients should have access to vital information and services on their fingertips and healthcare facilities should use electronic services to improve efficiencies and patient outcomes, this will help optimize overall operations in the health sector.”
He added that the Authority is moving in this direction and that this year at GITEX 2014, the DHA will launch several smart services and innovations including apps such as Sehhaty.
Amani Al Jassmi, Director of Information Technology at the DHA, said: “The Sehhaty application is extremely patient focussed to ensure that patients have vital health information and services available at their fingertips. Smart applications provide customers with convenience and ease and by tailor-making essential health services on apps; our aim is to enhance patient experience.”
She added the app will be available on multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry and patients can log into the app using their health card, user-id/password or through MyId
Highlighting the features of the app, Al Jassmi, said: “Sehhaty provides complete health profile of the patient with detailed information about upcoming and past appointments, laboratory results, prescriptions and admissions. Patients can reschedule or cancel an appointment using this app.”
She added that patients can link the account of their family members so that a single log-in system provides access to files of all family members. Users can simply swap patient profiles within the same family without having to log-in and log-out for every new user. “This feature is actually a result of patient feed-back and was incorporated for the convenience of family members.”
Al Jassmi said another highly convenient feature, especially for parents, is the vaccination calendar. “The app has a feature which allows parents to synchronize their children’s vaccination schedule so that they get alerts and keep track of their children’s vaccination schedule.”
Patients can also search an Enaya( health insurance for government employees) approved medical facility.
Al Jassmi said: ” The app also has details of health packages available such as elderly, men’s, women’s and adolescent’s health package. In addition, it also provides people with a list of active blood donation campaigns so that they can visit the campaign to donate blood. The app also provides an option for people to register as a blood donor.”
Additional features of the application include Body Mass Index BMI calculator etc.
Visitors at the DHA stand at GITEX will be able to learn about DHA apps and its plethora of features. DHA will also provide visitors on-the-spot free screening for blood pressure, blood sugar etc.
