Abu Dhabi, UAE: On the occasion of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Positive Cancer Foundation (PCF) is organising a series of awareness workshops for the women of U.A.E. government organisations, universities and schools, entitled, “Early Awareness of Breast Cancer,” to be delivered by Rahma Wehelie, Ph.D., Founder and Managing Director of the Swedish Ridales Healthcare Consulting-Breast Cancer Training.
Reem AL Buainain, PCF Deputy Chairperson, said, “We are organising these workshops among our range of activities that align with PCF’s vision of providing dynamic, unique and flexible programmes tailored to satisfy the needs of growing and diverse segments of cancer patients.
“These workshops are not just intended for the U.A.E.’s young women, but considered as a first awareness step in the road of facing such a health scourge, to go towards building a society which is aware of the dangers of this disease and its negative effects on families and the society. The young women of today are the mothers of tomorrow, and the sisters of today are the teachers of tomorrow.
“These activities represent an introduction to our strategy that aims to contribute effectively in community awareness of all types of cancer to remove fear from the hearts about such a disease by highlighting all aspects of cancer and unmasking its secrets, for the individual and his or her family to be able to face it without confusion or horror.” Dr. Wehelie said, “The workshops, which aim to spread awareness of breast cancer among young women, will encompass general information about cancer, facts and statistics about breast cancer, different types of breast cancer, treatment thereof and an educational video produced by the Swedish Cancer Society. Additionally, the workshops will include instructions in self-examination techniques.” Nora Al Buainain, PCF Projects Manager and supervisor of the workshops, said, “We couldn?t have been able to carry out these activities without the support of the U.A.E. universities and schools, which provide us with the halls and the facilities to conduct our workshops, along with the female students to participate in these activities that aim to contribute to health awareness in the U.A.E. to serve society.”
