Dubai, UAE: If you plan to travel abroad with your family in the summer holidays be sure to take the mandatory vaccinations for certain countries and preventive seasonal flu vaccinations which are now an important part of your to-do list before travel.
In order to educate the community, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) held a twitter clinic providing potential travellers with vital health advice.
The DHA has two dedicated traveller clinics — one in Al Mankhool area in Dubai and another in the Al Barsha primary health care centre — which provide comprehensive medical counselling and requisite vaccinations and travel advice according to destinations people are planning to travel to.
Dr Sawsan Al Nahas, specialist registrar in community medicine at the DHA, said the traveller clinic had become popular with raised health awareness levels in the community: “Geographical proximity of Dubai to other countries has resulted in high volume of travel, making this service increasingly important to protect the health of the community. At the clinics we provide vaccinations, medication and counsel travellers about the precautionary measures they should take when travelling abroad. This is especially applicable for people who visit high endemic areas where there is a higher risk of contracting communicable diseases.”
Nahas said the clinic follows the protocols of the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and provides the latest information on health requirements for travel to all destinations.
DHA’s travel clinic are WHO certified registered yellow fever immunisation centres in Dubai. The clinics also provides vaccinations such as Hepatitis B, seasonal flu vaccine and malaria medication.
