We were one of the first dental clinics to open in Abu Dhabi in the late 1970’s and for the past 40 years we’ve had our fair share of accolodes. Our clinic is conveniently located in downtown Abu Dhabi, equipped with the latest technology with caring and well trained staff by your side.
Cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers using the latest techniques and materials ensure we help you function and smile with confidence. Our team with over 80 collective years of experience in this field are able to cater for the simple to the most complex cases.
This covers the vast majority of day to day dental care and here we describe the variety of treatments available from the British Dental Clinic; Preventive Dentistry, White Fillings, Root Canal Treatment, Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, Implants, Gum Treatment.
Preventive Dentistry is Caring for one's teeth to keep them healthy.
The two most common reasons for tooth loss is gum disease and decay. This can be avoided or mitigated by daily brushing and flossing and regular visits to your dentist where problems can be identified and dealt with straight away.
Regular dental cleanings are the cornerstone to a healthy mouth. Eating a balanced diet helps protect the teeth by providing them with the nutrients they need. Children in particular benefit as it allows their newly developing adult teeth to come in strong and healthy. Adults also benefit because it helps them keep their real teeth.
At the British Dental Clinic our philosophy is to take a proactive approach rather than the old fashioned one of 'watch and wait'. Due to advancement in new technology we can now detect and eliminate early decay before a cavity forms. The use of air abrasion to remove decay, followed by the use of ozone gas to eliminate bacteria, coupled with fissure sealants, preventing fillings is now a reality.
White Fillings; The British Dental Clinic has been amalgam (mercury) free for over 15 years.
Due to this we have a great deal of experience in placing white(composite) fillings.
These are bonded to the tooth providing an aesthetic, functional restoration that lasts for many years.
Composite fillings are ideal for small to medium sized cavities both for the front and back teeth.
We are now 'pushing the envelope' and using them in larger sized cavities due to better material science. However there is a limit and for heavily broken down teeth inlays, onlays and crowns are still the gold standard.
A crown is custom made precision item that is cemented over your tooth or implant to completely cover it. Traditionally crowns have been described as metal or ceramic fused to metal. However, advancing technology has provided materials based on Zirconium. These materials are very strong and durable thus eliminating the requirement for a metal substructure for your crown. Ceramic crowns now are the gold standard in providing the ultimate aesthetic result.
Dentures are removal appliances made from specialized plastic with or without metal reinforcement to replace missing teeth.
Please go to the missing teeth section in dental concerns for further information.
An implant is a titanium screw which is placed into the bone to replace one or more teeth that have been lost. They can be placed at the same time as the tooth or teeth are extracted (immediate implant).
An immediate temporary crown or bridge can aso be placed over them at the time of surgery enabling the patient to leave the clinic with no aesthetic concerns. Implants are still used to anchor loose dentures enabling the patient to chew in a more comfortable manner.
The survival rate is highly predictable. Carefull attention to oral hygiene coupled with regular follow up with your dentist is key to longevity. The procedure is painless with minimal if any swelling. In many cases only a couple of nurofen is required!
