Dr. Richard Baker

Dr Baker is a UK-trained surgeon with 24 years of experience in medicine. His clinical expertise is in hand and wrist surgery, trauma surgery, paediatric plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery including skin removal after weight loss.

Dr Baker received his UK medical degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery MB BChir) from the University of Cambridge University in 2000 and was awarded his Masters degree (MA Cantab) in Biological Anthropology in 2001. Dr Baker was awarded his research MD in 2008 from the University of London for his research into techniques of reducing scarring of the skin after surgery.

Following Specialist Registrar training in teaching hospitals in London, Dr Baker passed the FRCS(Plast) specialist plastic surgery examination in 2012 becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He then undertook Specialist Fellowships in Hand and Wrist Surgery at Nottingham University Hospitals (2014-15) and Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery (2014) at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Dr Baker also undertook an observership in Hand and Microsurgery with Dr Francisco Pinal in Santander, Spain (2014). was awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (UK CCT) in 2016. Dr Baker has also visited prestigious units in Taiwan, America and India.

Dr Baker was appointed Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Wexham Park Hospital in Berskhire, UK in 2015. As well his government hospital practice, he had private practices at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor and Spire Thames Valley Hospital in Berkshire. Dr Baker became Clinical Lead of his department in 2020 until he joined SSMC in October 2023.
