Performs all management functions and duties of a general surgeon and provides expert medical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases and such surgical procedures as are within incumbent’s competence.
To Performs professional duties at district clinics at which out-patients surgical care is to be rendered to patients as assigned.
Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and specialists.
Assumes after-hours responsibilities for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
Determines the eligibility of patients for admission to … Center or designated facility hospitals.
Makes recommendations to the Chief of the service regarding medical referrals and repatriation of patients.
Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission or Accreditation of Hospitals.
Consults with anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds
Participates in the monthly staff meetings of the Surgical Svcs. Div.
Participates in the Quality Assurance activities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities etc).
Should have experience in trauma surgery and all phases of general surgery. At least two years of practice limited to surgery since certification.
If Medical School education was received in a language other than English, the applicant must demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Medical Director, his ability to communicate well on a professional level in English.
Must be able to accept administrative direction and professional guidance and must be able to adjust to group practice in an industrial environment.
