Dubai, UAE: Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and the Patron of Hamdan Medical Award, the registration in the 8th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences is free of charge through the website: http://www.hmaward.org.ae/conf/ .
The conference is organized by the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences from 15 until December 17 at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai, on the topics of Drug Discovery, Vaccines, Targeted Therapy and Cell Therapy. The conference provides 18 CME hours accredited from the United Arab Emirates University.
On this occasion, Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary General of the Hamdan Medical Award expressed his thanks to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Patron of science and scientists, praising his continuous support to the all means of improving the professional performance of the healthcare professionals all over the region.
He pointed out that the Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences, which is held every two years, comes on the top of the agenda of the important medical conferences in the Middle East. The conference has contributed in developing the skills of many specialists through exchanging their expertise with the pioneers in various medical specialties.
This year, the scientific program of the conference includes 12 workshops and 22 lectures to be delivered by significant scientists and researchers from 12 countries around the world including the United States of America, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Germany, France, China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Liberia.
Prof. Najib Al Khaja said that, this year, the winners of the international and the Arab world awards will be the keynote speakers of the conference.
From the United States, Professor Majid Abu Gharbia, the winner of the Grand Hamdan International award will present a lecture on discovery of innovative small molecules therapeutics.
Regarding the winners of the Hamdan International award for Medical Research Excellence, Professor Stanley Plotkin, USA, will present a lecture on progress in Vaccinations. The lecture by Professor Carl H. John, USA, will be on Cell Therapy for Cancer. The Swedish Prof. Olle Ringden, will deliver a lecture on a novel therapy for graft-versus-host disease, hemorrhages and toxicity after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Also, Prof. Brian J. Druker, USA, will present a lecture on Imatinib as a Paradigm of Targeted Cancer Therapies.
For the first time in the history of the conference, the winners of the Hamdan International Award for Volunteers in the humanitarian medical services are among the keynote speakers of the conference.
Dr. Manal Taryam, Executive Director of the Noor Dubai and a board member, will deliver a lecture on the efforts of the foundation in the humanitarian field as one of the winners of the award as institutions.
Curtis Kohlhaas, Chief Development Officer at the Carter Center, USA, will present a lecture about the efforts of the center in establishing the principles of human rights around the world, enhancing the opportunities for economic growth and improving health.
As for the winners of the Hamdan International Award for Volunteers in the humanitarian medical Award as individuals, Dr. Mads Gilbert Frederick from Norway will present a lecture on targeting health facilities. Also, Dr. Melvin Korkor from Liberia will present a lecture entitled: “My experience with Ebola.”
Also, the winners of the Hamdan Award for distinguished personalities in the Arab world are among the keynote speakers of the conference, namely Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Ghoneim from Egypt and Dr. Zohair Youssef Al Halees from Saudi Arabia.
