Sharjah, UAE: To celebrate the unprecedented achievements of the nation, University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) commemorated the 45th National Day of the United Arab Emirates at UHS premises with grand festivities on November the 28th.
The celebrations were organised in the gracious presence of HE Abdullah Ali Al Mahyan, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority and Chairman of Board of Trustees at UHS and HE Abdul Aziz Al Muhairi, Director of Sharjah Health Authority and Vice Chairman of UHS Board of Trustees.In addition,members of the Executive Administration, physicians, nurses and hospital employees attended the glorious celebration.
After an introduction that included the UAE National Anthem by school children, the celebration also showcased a number of events and activities. Live performance band by Sharjah Police Officers, henna art for the ladies, the release of hundreds of balloons, national-colour decorations and cultural dancing that boosted national pride;the folk dances were provided by a School in Sharjah.
It was particularly heart-warming to see how the festivities uplifted the spirit of the elderly patients, who were outdoors and in a joyous mood.
As a special treat, a cake-cutting ceremony was arranged for the guests and presided over by the Chairman during the event, which was open to patients and staff with a Majlis in the lobby and traditional food made and served with national pride.
A special component of this year’s celebration included an eye-catching display of antique vehicles at the hospital entrance. This was a rare opportunity for all the attendees to witness several classic cars, nearly impossible to find today, at the UHS premises. Afterward, gifts and certificates were distributed to the patients, who were extremely happy to be part of the occasion.
HE Abdullah Ali Al Mahyan, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority and Chairman of Board of Trustees at UHS, said, “On this important occasion we extend our warm greetings to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all members of the supreme council of the nation as well as UAE nationals and residents of the country. The UAE has made unprecedented progress in the last decades and National Day is a perfect reason to celebrate its dynamic achievements, confirming University Hospital Sharjah’s commitment to the nation’s vision. Taking this as an opportunity, we would like to express our solidarity and continue to be at the forefront of our nation’s growth as an entity that is devoted to the well-being of its people.”
The UHS also recognised the loyalty and dedication of the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the UAE. The crowd took a moment of silence to commemorate the dedication and allegiance of these national heroes.Nov 2016
