To help couples cope with the rising cost of healthcare, University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) now offers Maternity Packages that provide significant savings for expectant parents. These maternity packages acknowledge the potential worries of expanding a family and aim to provide a financially stress-free birth plan for new and seasoned parents.
The Basic Normal Delivery package is on offer for AED 9,000 for a limited period only – this includes a Delivery Suite with private amenities for the comfort of the mother and newborn.According to UHS’ Maternity Services Coordinator, Nagah Nourelsan Aboubakr Nasreldin, a celebratory cake will be offered to the happy family at the birth and newborn screenings will be done to ensure the health of the baby. Special food will also be provided to the mother during her stay at the hospital.Furthermore, the proud father will be permitted to stay in the suite with his new family, thus creating an atmosphere of familial and medical support for the mother and newborn.
This package includes the Delivery Fee for Normal Delivery, Cardiotocography (CTG) to monitor the baby’s heart rate and Plus Standard Discharge Medication and Consumables for the hospital stay. Moreover, investigations such as Full Blood Count (twice), Blood Group and Rh will be carried out. The newborn will also receive BCG and Hepatitis vaccinations.
As a precaution, doctors advise women who wish to conceive to undergo a series of tests to make sure the pregnancy and delivery are safe and the baby is born free of medical complications.

Birth is a momentous occasion but the cost of tests and antenatal care significantly add up. Furthermore, birth by C-section (planned or unplanned) is slightly more expensive. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), women in the UAE are having babies later in life and that is one of the factors leading to double the global rate of C-sections being performed in the Emirates. UHS has a comprehensive Caesarean Delivery Package to accommodate the growing demand in Sharjah.
The Basic Caesarean Delivery Package is offered at AED 19,000 and includes a Pre-Operative Consultation with an anesthetist, Caesarean Surgery (inclusive of Operating Theatre Costs, Obstetric Surgeon’s Fee and Anesthetist’s Fee), Recovery Room charges and standard consumables used in surgery.
The mother has a four-night stay in a self-contained private room, and will be offered a full pediatric evaluation of the newborn with BCG and Hepatitis vaccinations, and four days of pediatric care.
Both the Normal Delivery Package and the Basic Caesarean Delivery Package are offered with substantial savings of AED 5,000 for the mother, inclusive of antenatal care. The Antenatal Package provides comprehensive care for the would-be mother during the whole period of the pregnancy, including Obstetric Ultrasound Examinations, investigations and tests such as Full Blood Count (twice), Hemoglobin(twice), Antibody HIV-1 & 2, HVS, Random Blood Sugar, Glucose Tolerance Test, Urine Analysis and Urine Culture. These tests are critical to ascertain the wellbeing of the mother and by extension, the child.
Consultations with a Senior Consultant Obstetrician (up to a maximum of 12 visits) are covered in the package. UHS is committed to seeing through each delivery with the comfort of the mother and newborn in mind.
