Dr. Hameed Raina is a keen researcher with over 50 peer-reviewed publications in high-indexed journals to his credit. He is also the reviewer of many journals. Before joining us, he served as a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopist, and Endosonographer in many reputed hospitals in India. I had been suffering from difficulty in swallowing food and even liquids for several years. I visited many hospitals across the UAE, but unfortunately, no one could identify the exact cause of my problem. Eventually, I stopped seeking treatment and continued to suffer silently. Last month, my condition worsened—especially during sleep. The food I ate started coming back through my mouth and even nose in the middle of the night. That’s when I decided to visit Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where I consulted Dr. Hameed Raina in the gastroenterology department. Dr. Hameed conducted several tests and finally diagnosed me with Achalasia Cardia, a condition I had never heard of before. He clearly explained everything to me and suggested a treatment called POEM procedure (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy), which he performed on June 1st. I was admitted for 5 days and discharged on June 5th. Today, I can confidently say that I feel much better—I can eat and drink normally without any pain or discomfort. I want to sincerely thank Dr. Hameed Raina for his expert diagnosis and treatment. I’m also very grateful to Burjeel Hospital for their outstanding care.
