Dr. Rowaida Hamdy Abdou

Dr. Rowaida Hamdy Abdou completed her MB in 2008 from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine Cairo. She further went on to complete her MS (Rheumatology and Rehabilitation) in 2012 and her MD (Rheumatology and Rehabilitation) in 2017 from the same institution. Prior to NMC Healthcare, Dr. Abdou was the Manager of the inpatient unit of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Ain Shams University Hospitals and a Consultant, Lecturer of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation.

Special Areas of Interest

Diagnosis and management of different rheumatic conditions (according to ACR and EULAR guidelines) including:

• Inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and gout
• Connective tissue diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), vasculitis, systemic sclerosis, polymyositis and Sjogren’s syndrome.
• Degenerative joint diseases including osteoarthritis, neck problems and back disorders.
• Soft tissue disorders including frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, De Quervain tenosynovitis, trigger finger and plantar fasciitis.

Chronic pain syndromes like fibromyalgia, including

• Management of osteoporosis.
• Experience in management of rheumatic diseases using biological therapy.
• Experience in performing intra-articular injection.
• Experience in performing perineural injection in cases of knee pain, low back pain, etc.
• Experience in performing musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis and follow up of different rheumatic diseases, musculoskeletal conditions and sports related injuries.
• Experience in the management and rehabilitation of the different musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.
• Experience in nerve conduction studies of different peripheral nerves, facial and pudendal nerves and electromyography of different muscles, EAS and EUS.
