In 1990, Dr. Thomas Kunt earned his degree from the Medical School of the Johannes-Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany. After his residency at the Hospital of Annweiler and the III. Medical Clinic of the Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany in 1996, he became a Consultant in Internal Medicine and sub-specialized in 1998 in the field of Endocrinology and Diabetology.

In 1997, he received the Albert-Knoll-Award for his scientific work on vascular complications in Diabetes mellitus. Dr. Kunt worked as an Assistant Professor at the same time at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University and was awarded the title of an Associate Professor of Medicine in 2000. In 1999, he held the position of a Chief of Medicine at the Hospital of Annweiler/Germany where he stayed until 2002. From 2002 until 2005, he worked as Chief of Medicine at the Sheikh Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

From 2006 until 2011, he was heading a Private Diabetes Clinic in Berlin/Germany. He then returned to Abu Dhabi to fulfill his passion in the field of diabates care and to implement his vast knowledge and experience in international standards of care for diabetic patients as part of the team of German experts at the new HealthPlus Diabetes and Endocrinology Center in partnership with Diabetes Zentrum Mergenthiem of Germany. His clinical focus are diabetes care and endocrinology (hormone disorders).

He is a member of the Guideline Task Force of the “International Diabetes Federation (IDF)” and a member of the Guideline Committee of the German Diabetes Association. He has published numerous scientific papers in the field of diabetes and is lecturing on a regular basis worldwide. Dr. Kunt is also active with all types of local media and is committed to Public Education on Diabetes.
