Amer AlKhatib, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Khatib worked as an interventional gastroenterologist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US.

Dr. AlKhatib earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan in Amman before pursuing medical training in the US. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas in Houston and practiced medicine in Spokane, Washington. He later joined the University of Utah’s liver transplant team in 2007. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship from University of Utah. He was the first physician to join and finish ​Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, US.

Dr. AlKhatib has published more than 40 papers, many of which are in elite international medical journals, including the American Journal of Medicine. He is passionate about medicine and his professional interests include pancreatic and biliary disorders. He is skilled in many routine and advanced endoscopic procedures and has taught medical students, residents and fellows for more than a decade. He had affiliation with Washington State University and Oklahoma State University as adjunct assistant professor.
