Dr. Al Aly

Dr. Al Aly, MD, is a Section Head in the Surgical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Being a plastic surgeon, ​Dr. Al Aly pioneered the subspecialty of body contouring after massive weight loss techniques. He has either invented or developed most of the currently utilized procedures in this field, including Belt Lipectomy, body and upper body lift, tummy tuck, arm reduction (Brachioplasty), thigh reduction and male breast reduction.

Dr. Al Aly is one of only six plastic surgeons to have received the Lockwood Award, granted to those who have made major contributions to the field of body contouring plastic surgery.

He has lectured and given surgical demonstrations in over twenty-five countries. He initiated and developed the first online plastic surgery textbook and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Plastic Surgery Education Network, the largest online plastic surgery education online portal. He is the past President of the Aesthetic Surgery Research and Education Foundation.

Dr. Al Aly received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, US. He completed his Surgical Residency at the University of California Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, US and Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, US. He completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics, Miami, Florida, US.

Dr. Al Aly lives in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two children. He is an avid reader and enjoys soccer, having played at a semi-professional level. ​
