Dr. Jason A. Goldsmith, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He is a highly experienced glaucoma and cataract surgeon, with extensive expertise in complex cataract and glaucoma surgery.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Goldsmith served on university faculty for twelve years as an Associate Professor at the John Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, US. There, he had a large clinical and surgical practice and served as principle investigator on several glaucoma research studies that were sponsored by the US National Institutes of Health. At the same time, he served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, US.
Dr. Goldsmith obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of California and attended Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, US and fellowship training in glaucoma and cataract surgery at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, US.
Dr. Goldsmith is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology (board certification). He is a member of many professional organizations including serving as an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, an Active Member of the American Glaucoma Society and a Member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Goldsmith is the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including the President's Undergraduate Research Fellowship at the University of California, Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award in Genetics at the University of California, Stanford Medical Scholar, Norwegian Marshall Fund Scholarship and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Secretariat Award.
