Dr. Maurice Hogan

Dr. Maurice Hogan, MBBCh, is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hogan completed fellowships in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia at Leipzig Heartcentre, Germany (EACTA accredited) and in clinical research at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

Dr. Hogan received his MBBCh and his MSc in Physiology from University College Dublin, Ireland. He completed his residency in Anesthesia at the College of Anaesthetists, also in Dublin and concurrently completed an MBA at University College Dublin.

Dr. Hogan is experienced in providing perioperative care across all surgical specialties, incorporating anesthesia, intensive care medicine and acute pain management for adults and pediatric patients.

His special interests include anesthesia for minimal access cardiac surgery (video or robotically assisted), percutaneous valve repair, trans-catheter valve replacement (trans-vascular, trans-apical), aortic surgery (+/-hypothermic cardiac arrest), heart assist device implantation, heart transplant, lung transplant, extra-corporeal life support (ECLS), extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), ECMO retrieval service, coronary revascularization, vascular surgery (open, endovascular, hybrid), perioperative echocardiography, point-of-care ultrasound, cardiovascular imaging, enhanced recovery after surgery, clinical research, research collaboration and evidence based medicine.​​
