Dr. Shameen Salam, MD, FCCP, is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Salam was a Staff Physician in Pulmonary and Critical Care at St. Vincents Hospital and Research Center, Allegheny Health Network, Erie, Pennsylvania, USA for four years. During this time, he also served as a Clinical Associate Professor for students from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, in the twelve months prior to his arrival to CCAD, he also worked part time with a Tele ICU company gaining valuable experience providing health care to patients via smart technology.
Dr. Salam has received numerous teaching awards during and after his training as part of his commitment and passion to teach. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care. He is a Fellow of College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and a Member of Royal College of Physicians in London (MRCP), United Kingdom.
Dr. Salam received his medical degree from Bangalore University, Sri Siddhartha Medical College and Research Center in Tumkur, Karnataka. He initially completed his general medical training in the United Kingdom, which resulted in obtaining his MRCP diploma. He then pursed an education in the United States of America finishing his residency at Michigan State University, Butterworth Hospital, where he was also appointed as Chief Medical Resident during his final year of residency. He then completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Salam resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and daughter. He enjoys traveling, music and exercising.
