Dr. Ahmad Edris, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Edris was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he was part of a busy cardiology practice treating a spectrum of cardiovascular disease and performing a high-volume of interventional cardiology procedures. He was also involved in the training and education of UCLA Cardiology fellows.
He is trained in advanced coronary and structural heart disease interventions with a focus on minimally-invasive cardiac procedures, including percutaneous valve interventions such as, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and mitral valve interventions. He is part of the Structural Heart team and has been involved in the evaluation and treatment of structural and valvular heart disease patients at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. His specialty expertise includes the treatment of ischemic heart disease, structural heart and valve disease, invasive coronary imaging, cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure and coronary interventions.
Dr. Edris is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialties of Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He holds a Certification Board in Nuclear Cardiology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
Dr. Edris has a special interest in transradial procedures and has performed thousands of cardiac diagnostic, as well as interventional procedures, using the transradial approach. His transradial research has led to improvements in the management of his patients. He has also been a principal investigator, or co-investigator, in several research studies. His articles and abstracts have been published in leading medical journals and he has written several book chapters in multiple medical textbooks covering topics in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, as well as transcatheter valve disease interventions. Additionally, Dr. Edris has been invited to lecture at several international cardiology conferences.
He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and continued his training with a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He then completed his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he trained in complex coronary and structural interventions.
Dr. Edris enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two children. He and his family enjoy exploring the region and traveling.
