Dr. Ahmed Elrefaey, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Elrefaey worked at a number of large hospitals in the UAE, including Dubai Hospital, Al Dhafra Hospitals (SEHA) and Al Salama Hospital Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Elrefaey has an interest in different cardiology fields, including echocardiography, stress ECG and cardiac CT. During his time serving at Al Dhafra Hospitals, Dr. Elrefaey helped in expanding cardiology services and did the first trans-esophageal echocardiography at Madinat Zayed Hospital. He also participated in interventional cardiology workshops in Dubai Hospital, Georges-Pompidous Hospital, France and Prime Hospital in Hyder Abad, India.
Dr. Elrefaey received his medical degree from Tanta University, Egypt in 2002. He also received his master's degree in Cardiology from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 2010. He gained his Cardiology training at Al Minshawy General Hospital and Mahalla Cardiac Center in Egypt.
Dr. Elrefaey resides in Abu Dhabi and enjoys the multi-cultural environment. He is also a professional chess player and participates in chess tournaments in the UAE.
