Dr. Ammar Kheir, MBBS, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kheir was a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Therapeutic Colonoscopist at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee. He was also a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
Dr. Kheir received his medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan. He completed his foundation medical training at James Cook University Hospital, UK. Following that, he completed Basic Physician Training at John Hunter Hospital and the University of Newcastle, Australia. He then completed his Core Gastroenterology and Hepatology Training at the Central Coast and Northern Sydney hospitals. After that, he completed an advanced Therapeutic Colonoscopy fellowship at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, Brisbane, Australia. He also completed an advanced Endoscopic Training at Kyushu University Hospital, Japan.
Dr. Kheir has a particular interest and expertise in image-enhanced endoscopy, high-quality colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening in adults, inflammatory bowel disease, management of colonic polyposis, advanced endoscopic resection techniques, Barrett’s esophagus and screening for early gastric cancer. He presented at international meetings, was published in peer-reviewed journals and authored endoscopy textbook chapters.
