Dr. Andrea Ghanem

Dr. Andrea Ghanem, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Ghanem was a General and Pediatric Ophthalmologist at Magrabi Eye and Ear Center, Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Ghanem received her medical degree from Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic in 2006. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Lexum Eye Clinic, Prague, Czech Republic from 2007 to 2008, training in refractive surgery under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Filipec. She then trained in General Opthamology and Retinology under Prof. Dr. Kohen at Helios Klinikum Aue, Germany from 2008 to 2011 in Helios, Germany. She also trained in General Opthamlogy under Prof. Dr. Schmidbauer in Klinikum Nord Nuernberg, Germany from 2011 to 2012. During her residency, Dr. Ghanem completed a training at the Vissum Eye Clinic, Alicante, Spain under Prof. Dr. Alió in 2005 and at the Baviera Eye Clinic, Valencia, Spain under Dr. Baviera in 2011.

After completing her residency, she worked at the Eye Clinic, Glattzentrum, Zürich, Switzerland in 2013 and at the Eye Clinic of Dr. Kemmerling, Dr. Eckert, Sindelfingen, Germany in 2014, covering general ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, laser treatments, intravitreal injections and minor lid surgeries.

She is German Board-Qualified in Ophthalmology (Facharzt) and a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). Her experience includes general ophthalmology, with an emphasis on retinology, laser treatments and minor surgical operations. Dr. Andrea is fluent in English, German, Spanish, Czech and Slovak.
