Graduated from the faculty of medicine (geneva university ,switzerland) in 1982. spent 8 years in canada as a family physician. Back in switzerland trained as a specialist in internal medicine and geriatrics. Completed 2 years of training in psycho-geriatrics at the geneva university hospital. Published a study on functional status assessment in the frail elderly and obtained his doctorate in medicine.
