Dr. Arun Arya

Dr. Arun Arya is the Head of Pulmonology Department & Consultant Pulmonologist with more than 25 years of experience.

He is a member of Royal College of Physician of Ireland since 1999. He completed his higher specialty training while working at Cork University Hospital, Mercy University Hospital, Cork and St James’s University Hospital, Dublin. He was awarded CSCST with dual accreditation in Pulmonary & Internal Medicine by the Irish Committee of Higher Medical Training at Royal College of Physician of Ireland in 2008. He was awarded fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland FRCP (Ireland) in 2011 and United Kingdom FRCP (UK) in 2016. He is also a fellow of American College of Chest Physicians FCCP.

He worked as a Consultant Pulmonologist at Mercy University Hospital, Cork, Ireland. He moved to UK in 2009 to take up role of Clinical Lead and Consultant Pulmonologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust, Kings Lynn. During this time he was also a Senior Clinical Tutor at the prestigious Cambridge University, UK.

Dr. Arya expertise in performing advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, EBUS TBNA, transbronchial lung biopsy, peripheral TBNA under fluoroscopy, pleuroscopy, pleural biopsies, talc pleurodesis, chest ultrasound and placement of long term Indwelling Pleural Catheter for malignant pleural effusions. His other main area of interest includes Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Non-invasive ventilation, Cough, Airway Diseases including COPD/Asthma, Interstitial lung diseases and Bronchiectasis.

Dr. Arun Arya is an examiner for MRCP conducted by the Royal College of Physician, London. He established and organized various courses including Chest Drain Safety, Non-Invasive Ventilation, & Chest Ultrasound at his hospital in UK. He completed his research on “Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Angiogenesis” and has presented his work at the National and International scientific meetings. He has published in different journals. He received ‘NHS Clinical Excellence Award’ in 2013. He was awarded ‘Medical Teacher of the Year’, voted by medical students of Mercy University Hospital, University College Cork, Ireland in 2007-2008.
