Dr. Carlos M. Abril Vega, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Vega was Chief of the Colorectal Section at the University Clinic Hospital of Valladolid in Spain.
Dr. Vega earned his PhD from the Experimental Surgery Laboratory at the School of Medicine, Valladolid in 1998. He then worked in acute care surgery for two years and moved to the Hospital El Bierzo (Ponferrada) as a Staff General Surgeon.
He then returned to the University Clinic Hospital of Valladolid as Staff General Surgeon and became Associate Professor of the Surgery Department within the School of Medicine at the University of Valladolid in 2006.
Dr. Vega received his medical degree at the University of Valladolid School of Medicine, Valladolid, Spain and the University of Madrid between 1986 and 1992. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University Clinic Hospital of Valladolid.
