Dr. Dana Al Merabi

Ms. Dana Al Merabi is Clinical Psychologist at ACPN. She obtained her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from United Arab Emirates University in 2018. Ms. Al Merabi gained experience as a psychotherapist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi treating adults and children for various mental health challenges until 2019. She also obtained her Master’s degree in Linguistics in 2011, with an emphasis in Psycholinguistics, from the University of Regina in Canada as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Regina in Canada in 2004.

Ms. Al Merabi has 10 years’ experience in the field of mental health working with children, adolescents, and adults. Her experience spans both clinical and educational settings in the UAE on cases involving individual therapy as well as group therapy. She conducted workshops on various mental health topics including depression, anxiety, bullying, eating disorders, stress management, attachment and how to identify students with learning difficulties. Her role involved providing strategies to parents and educators to help children and adolescents overcome social, emotional or learning difficulties. Ms. Al Merabi also worked closely with social support services to help victims of abuse.

Ms. Al Merabi’s training and experience involve a diverse range of mental health challenges including neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, eating disorders, oppositional defiant and conduct disorders. Although Ms. Al Merabi uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a key approach in her practice, she aims at an integrative approach, combining elements of Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and psychodynamics tailored to individual needs. She also utilizes effective play therapy when working with children to provide them with useful strategies for coping with difficult thoughts, emotions or behaviors. Ms. Al Merabi is skilled in psychometric testing (verbal & nonverbal IQ tests and personality assessment).
