Dr. Edmondo Borasio

Dr. Edmondo Borasio graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Torino, Italy in 1999.He completed the Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology at Colby College, Waterville, USA in 2001. In 2003, he specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Torino, Italy. He worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK for 5 years, where he developed his career with 3 different fellowships: in Cataract Surgery, in Laser Refractive Surgery, and in Cornea and External Eye Disease.

In 2007, he moved and continued his practice in the UAE as a founder of a large private eye specialty hospital in Dubai and set up its Cornea and Refractive Unit.

To his credit, Dr. Edmondo has developed BESSt, a groundbreaking formula to improve the accuracy of IOL power calculations in cataract patients who previously underwent LASIK/PRK. The formula was published on the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and was presented at various international conventions. To date, this is amongst the most accurate regression formula in the world for this purpose.

Dr. Borasio is actively involved in research with special interest in Keratoconus, Post-LASIK biometry, vector analysis of Astigmatism and Toric IOL calculations. He has published several articles on these topics on the most prestigious scientific ophthalmic journals.

He became a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) in 2004.

Dr. Edmondo‘s main fields of expertise are: corneal transplantation, laser refractive surgery, phakic IOL surgery for high myopia/astigmatism, and complex cataract surgery.
