Dr. Emad Farrag

Dr. Emad Farrag is a Consultant Psychiatrist with ACPN’s child and adolescent mental health team. Prior to joining ACPN, he worked as a consultant psychiatrist at Maudsley Health, Abu Dhabi. Dr. Farrag obtained his MBBCh from the faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 1995. He completed his training in general psychiatry at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK in 2004, then went on to complete his higher specialist training (CCT) in child and adolescent psychiatry at the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in 2009. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, UK and is a registered psychiatry practitioner with the General Medical Council, UK.

Dr. Farrag brings over ten years’ experience as subspecialist in child and adolescent psychiatry in the UK and more recently in the UAE. His experience spans over two decades of medical practice in the UK complemented with a strong interest in academic research and teaching across the UK and the Middle East and Africa region. Prior to moving to the UAE in 2018, Dr. Farrag practiced at the globally renowned Maudsley Hospital in London. Post his sub-specialization in 2009, Dr. Farrag has worked as Consultant Psychiatrist in various hospitals and psychiatric facilities with the National Health Service in the UK. As a consultant, Dr. Farrag led the development of child and adolescent services at one of the largest private mental health service providers in the United Kingdom and was instrumental in the development and delivery of integrated child and adolescent psychiatric services in residential educational settings for children with autism.

Dr. Farrag has a keen interest in the diagnosis, management and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders (autism and ADHD), depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) and is a firm believer in building relationships with educational institutions to provide support, consultations and training with the aim of early detection and treatment of mental disorders in early life. His goal with early intervention is to ensure the best outcomes for students both personally and academically. Having treated all manner of clients, Dr. Farrag’s approach to treatment is culturally attuned to patient needs.
