Dr. Harold Shim (Reviews) Emergency Medicine Physician

Harold Shim, MD is a Staff Physician in the Emergency Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Shim received his medical degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 1989. He began working as a family practitioner and later returned to complete his residency and obtain his certification in Emergency Medicine, (CCFP-EM) in 1998.

Dr. Shim is a certified helicopter ski guide and international ski instructor. He established the first doctor-led medical program for Mike Wiegele’s Helicopter Skiing in British Columbia, Canada in 1998 and has volunteered several times for AMREF Flying Doctors in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Shim is the Middle East Director of the EDE Course (Emergency Medical Echo) and the AIME Course (Airway Interventions and Management in Emergencies).

Currently, Dr. Shim resides in Abu Dhabi, with his wife while his daughter attends university in Canada.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Shim moved from Canada in 2007 to serve as an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi until 2010. He then took on the role of Clinical Medical Director at the Presidential Medical Wing at Mafraq Hospital, where he served the Royal Family and their VIP visitors.
