Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani

Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani, MD, is the Medical Director of Supply Chain Operations and Staff Physician at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He is a Consultant in the Surgical Subspecialities Institute, specializing in Head and Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose and Throat surgery). He is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Shkoukani served as an Associate Professor and Chief of Craniofacial Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, US. He was also Chief of Otolaryngology at John D. Dingell Veteran's Administration Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, US.

He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine with high distinction. He then completed a General Surgery internship and a residency in Otolaryngology at Wayne State University. Following his residency, he completed a Craniomaxillofacial/Skull Base, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, US.

Dr. Shkoukani’s clinical interests include treating cranial/skull base pathology, head and neck cancer, congenital craniofacial anomalies, craniofacial trauma, management of cutaneous malignancies, the functional and reconstructive aspects of facial plastic surgery, as well as managing and treating sinus disease. He has been active in clinical research in both Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery. He has numerous publications in these fields and has given lectures at local and national scientific meetings.

Dr. Shkoukani is a double American Board Certified Surgeon in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, as well as in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has been very involved in teaching residents and medical students. He also served as the Medical Student Director in the Department of Otolaryngology at Wayne State University.​
