Dr. Mahmoud Omar, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Omar was a Consultant and Lecturer of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Menoufia University, National Liver Institute, Egypt, which is a large tertiary referral and liver transplant center in Egypt serving thousands of patients each year. In addition to his clinical duties at the National Liver Institute, Dr. Omar was responsible for teaching and training medical students, junior residents and fellows.
Dr. Omar received his medical degree with honors from Menoufia University, Egypt. He completed his residency at Menoufia University, National Liver Institute, Egypt in 2012. He then underwent his advanced training in hepatology, gastroenterology and endoscopy from 2012 to 2018 at Menoufia University, National Liver Institute.
Moreover, Dr. Omar holds both a master’s and a doctorate degree in Hepatology from Menoufia University, Egypt. He has also spent two years in the United States at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with the Interventional Endoscopy Services (IES) team working on multiple research projects and clinical trials on advanced endoscopic techniques.
Dr. Omar resides in Abu Dhabi with his family. He enjoys sightseeing and photography.
