Dr. Makarem is a Consultant in Internal Medicine. He graduated in Spain and continued his post-graduate training in Family Medicine at the “American University of Beirut” Medical Center. Following graduation he joined the staff of AUB Medical Center as an Instructor in Family Medicine and remained there practicing and teaching Family Medicine for 21 years. He is a Member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, as well as the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Dr. Makarem has special interest in mental health and psychosomatic medicine, adolescent medicine and school health. He is an expert in patient-centered medical care.
