Dr. Mohgah El Sheikh

With a proven track record in academia, patient care and leadership, Dr Mohgah El Sheikh embodies ICLDC’s commitment to clinical excellence.

Dr El Sheikh joined ICLDC as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology in May 2012. Her main interests are obesity, type 2 diabetes and reproductive endocrinology. She is the Medical Lead for the multidisciplinary Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Centre, a joint collaboration between ICLDC and its fellow Mubadala Healthcare provider, Healthpoint. More recently she has developed a diabetes remission service, the first of its kind in the UAE.

Prior to moving to Abu Dhabi, Dr El Sheikh was a consultant endocrinologist in the UK for over 10 years where she established a multidisciplinary obesity and bariatric service and expanded it to become a regional referral centre. She also led numerous innovative initiatives such as the development of the virtual thyroid clinic and the endocrine e-book.

She is equally passionate about education. She was co-founder and tutor for the Reading University Certificate of Obesity Management, is co-organiser of the UAE Obesity Conference and was also involved in the development of an online primary care obesity education programme. She has authored several papers and textbook chapters including in the Oxford Handbook for Diabetes and Endocrinology, and regularly presents at both national and international conferences.
