Dr. Omar Durrani

Dr. Omar Durrani, MBBS, is a Staff Physician at the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He is also a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western University in Cleveland Ohio.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Durrani was the Director of Oculoplastic Services at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, UK, where he also chaired the Fellowship Training Program and the Clinical Governance Committee. He also founded the multi-disciplinary, supra-regional Complex Orbito-Facial Diseases Clinic.

In 2012, he received the NHS Clinical Excellence Award from the National Health Service, UK, in recognition of performing 'over and above' the expected standard, in terms of quality and excellence, and acknowledging exceptional personal contributions to patient safety, education and training.

Dr. Durrani has pioneered several minimally-invasive, scar-less surgical techniques for brow lifting, lacrimal and orbital diseases and has successfully performed more than 6,000 oculoplastic and cosmetic procedures.

He has been actively involved with education and research throughout his career. His research interests include thyroid eye disease, orbital inflammation and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has published widely and is regularly invited to speak at international conferences.

Dr. Durrani is a fellow of the British Ocular Plastic Surgery Society, European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.​​
