Dr. Rajesh Sasikumar, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician ​in the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Sasikumar held dual roles as a senior consultant in Glaucoma Services and as a Deputy Director of Research at Narayana Nethralaya, a tertiary eye hospital in India.

Dr. Sasikumar earned his medical degree from the University of Mysore, India and completed his residency from the Institute of Ophthalmology at the Joseph Eye Hospital in Trichy, India. He consequently worked as a senior registrar at Schell Eye Hospital at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India.

He then worked as a adjunct researcher in the glaucoma department at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India for two years, before pursuing a clinical fellowship in Glaucoma at the Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia. He spent the next four years at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and Singapore National Eye Center, Singapore, as a Senior Clinical Research Fellow. He holds an adjunct professor position at the MS Ramaiah Medical School in India.

Dr. Sasikumar is experienced with complex surgical procedures for both Cataract and Glaucoma and has trained residents and fellows at various institutes.

He is also an avid researcher and has been a principal and co-investigator in Glaucoma related clinical trials on Therapeutics, Imaging, Clinical Course and Surgical Outcomes. He has been an invited speaker at many international conferences to present his work, as well has having fifty publications and is a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Sasikumar’s primary research interests include Angle Closure Disease Pathogenesis, Imaging, Proteomics and Biomarker Determination in Glaucoma. He is a strong supporter of the use of Tele-Ophthalmology in the diagnosis of Glacuoma and other eye diseases.

Dr. Sasikumar has served as an advisor for Alcon India and Allergan India and has received a honorarium from both.​
