Dr. Ricard Corcelles

Dr. Ricard Corcelles, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Corcelles was a Consultant Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Hospital Clinic Barcelona in Spain.

Dr. Corcelles received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain in 1999. He completed a residency at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona in 2006 and became Staff in General Surgery at the same establishment.

He has dedicated most of his scientific career to the realm of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In 2011, Dr. Corcelles obtained his PhD with cum laude honors at the University of Barcelona, evaluating the effects of Gastric Bypass procedures on the metabolic syndrome and type2 diabetes. After earning his PhD, Dr. Corcelles underwent a two year fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio.

Dr. Corcelles specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery, with a particular focus on metabolic and bariatric surgery. He also has a special interest in education and has been a keynote speaker and lecturer in numerous international meetings. He is a reviewer of international scientific journals, including the Obesity Surgery journal, Surgical Endoscopy, Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases and Cirugia Española.

Dr. Corcelles resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two kids. He enjoys traveling and playing sports.
