Dr. Safdar Akbar, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Emergency Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Akbar practiced at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York, New York and Meritus Medical Center, the largest healthcare provider in Washington County, Maryland and a Level III trauma center.
He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Physicians, a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Akbar received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Following his graduation, he completed a year-long internship at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Akbar completed his residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, New York, followed by a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Akbar lives in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two sons. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and sports, he is also a certified scuba diver.
