Dr. Torbjorn V. Wetterberg

Dr. Torbjorn V. Wetterberg, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He has dedicated his career to tertiary level critical care medicine and has contributed to the development of novel therapeutic modalities for the treatment of catastrophic lung failure in acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wetterberg was a Consultant Intensivist, Head of Critical Care and Medical Director of the Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Units at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between 1995 and 2014. Prior to his roles in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Wetterberg worked as a Consultant Intensivist in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the University of Lund, Sweden. In parallel, he pursued a research career and completed a PhD in Anesthesiology and Critical Care with the thesis “Treatment of Critical Respiratory Failure in Adult Respiratory Failure”.

Dr. Wetterberg earned his medical degree from the University of Lund in Sweden and received his Swedish Board Certification in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care in 1985.
