Malaika Mendonca

Dr Mendonca is a PICU Consultant at SKMC since 2004 and Head of the Pediartic Cardicac Care Unit since mid 2010. She manages critical ill children from Preterm/newborn babies up to the age of 12 years. The range of diseases varies widely from respiratory, neurological or metabolic problems over post surgical care (diaphragmatic hernia, lobectomy, neurosurgery, etc) and care for patients after organ transplant.

Dr Mendonca is also involved in the management of long term ventilated patients, patients who require high dependency care and is team leader for any inpatient child resuscitation. Before coming to SKMC, Dr Mendonca was the attending physician of the Cardiac PICU at the Ludwig-Maximillian University, Munich,, where the full range of pediatric cardiac surgery procedures including ECMO and heart transplant was performed.
