Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatib was appointed as the Medical Director by HealthPlus & the Diabetes Zentrum Mergenthein (DZM) at Abu Dhabi’s HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center. After receiving his medical degree from the faculty of Medicine, University of Wuerzburg, Germany, Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatib pursued his specialization in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolic Disorders. He also holds a Diploma of Acupuncture and Sciences of Nature Healing.

After his training, he joined Luitpold-Hospital in Bad Kissingen, Germany as a Ward-doctor and later as a Senior Physician for the Internal Medicine Ward and the Emergency Room. For over two years, he was the Head ward-doctor in the renowned Bad Mergentheim’s Diabetes Center (DZM), Germany. He joined the University Hospital of Wuerzburg for several years as an Assistant Physician and has built up the Outpatient Clinic for Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders as well as the Obesity Center of Wuerzburg. He was responsible for all diabetic foot patients in the University Hospital and led the wound care clinic for diabetic foot syndromes.

Along all that, Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatib was also in private specialized practice for diabetes and endocrinology in Wuerzburg, Germany.German Board holder, his extensive years of experience working in International Hospitals in Germany dealing with multicultural patients ensure his thorough understanding of cultural challenges in addition to being fluent in all English, Arabic and German.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatib also has been involved in the teaching and training of medical personnel and patients on various topics including Metabolism, Diabetes, Anatomy and Physiology. He held lectures at the University of Wuerzburg, initiated workshops for medical students and was a speaker at several meetings such as the Diabetes Congresses or Obesity Symposia and a speaker for different pharmaceutical industries in the field of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. He held lessons and lectures for the German Board for Diabetes Educators as part of their training and certification.

He also has broad experience in nutritional issues and administering special forms of diet (e.g. Diabetes-Diet) and weight-management-programs. Led by Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatib, the HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center in partnership with DZM establishes itself as a center of excellence in diabetes and endocrinology care in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
