Dr. Sandip Mitra graduated from the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research in India and specialized in Ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He was awarded the Bodhraj Goldmedal for the best post graduate student in ophthalmology. Dr. Mitra then obtained his Fellowship in Corneal & Refractive Surgery from the largest eye hospital in Australia, The Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital at University of Melbourne. While in Australia, he was also involved in various multicentric research projects at CERA (The Centre for Eye Research, Australia). He specialized in the ‘big bubble technique for amellar keratoplasty’ and performed a series of successful corneal graft for keratoconus. Dr. Mitra has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 50 papers in various international conferences. Dr. Mitra has performed more than 6000 Excimer laser surgeries (LASIK, EPI_LASIK and PTK) at the excellent laser centre Melbourne Excimer Laser Group, Australia. He has also performed more than 10000 cataract surgeries (Cold Phaco‘no stitch surgery’), 500 vitreo retinal surgeries and other complicated eye procedures. He also performs phakic ICL implantations and refractive IOL exchange surgeries on a regular basis.
