Ten years, working at the Dental Services Corps, Zayed Military Hospital, Abu Dhabi - a glorious experience, an enriching work culture that sharpened us as clinicians and as individuals. We decided to get out. To build something wonderful of our own; to nurture it, prune it, love and cherish it- Whitefield was born. After months of rummaging through blue prints, brick laying and fine-tuning, we finally opened doors of Whitefield Dentistry to the world on 26th of Feb 2013.

Why Whitefield? What’s in the name? ‘White’ is the natural color of our ‘field’ of work – Teeth. White is what we want to restore all damaged teeth to. White is pure. It is brilliance. Translucent as enamel. It is simple and unassuming. It is open and welcoming. It is the sum total of all colors in the universe. It is Zen. Field is openness, freedom from conventions, freedom from confined thought, and freedom from profit driven mindset. The name drives our Mission & Goals. Laughing Gas & Pain Free Dentistry …

Nitrous oxide is commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous, nitro, or NOS. At room temperature, it is a colorless, non-flammable gas, with a slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic, anxiolytic and analgesic effects. It is known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, was first used as an anesthetic for surgery patients over 160 years ago !

When administered, the body absorbs Nitrous oxide rapidly, allowing for both quick onset and recovery (two to three minutes). You will feel a bit light headed and often people get ‘the giggles’ (hence the name laughing gas!). In medicine, sometimes a mix of 50% oxygen to 50% nitrous oxide is used. The levels of sedation can be experienced (after an initial feeling of light-headedness). A tingling sensation, especially in the arms and legs, or a feeling of vibration (“parasthesia”), quickly followed by Warm sensations, and a feeling of well-being, euphoria and/or floating. At a deeper level of sedation again, sleepiness, difficulty to keep one’s eyes open or speak. You may ever begin to dream. Should nausea set in, it means you’re definitely over-sedated!
