Dr. Kotyra received her medical education in Poland. She completed her Diploma of Physician from the Medical Academy, Wroclaw, Polish First Grade Certificate in Anaesthesia from Collegium Copernicus, Krakow. Dr. Kotyra also completed FFARCSI CCST from the UK.

Dr. Kotyra was a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in the UK`s first Academic Health Science Centre prior to her joining Corniche Hospital. Dr. Kotyra's special interests include Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care and Anaesthesia for surgical specialities such as Hepatobiliary, Endocrine, Cardiothoracic, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Oncology, and Live Related Kidney Transplantation. She has been involved in covering cardiothoracic and emergency surgery in Hammersmith Hospital and high risk obstetric patients in Corniche Hospital.

Dr. Kotyra has been actively involved in teaching junior medical staff, trainee ODPs, paramedics, nurses and medical students. She has been an examiner at the EGH Primary Anaesthesia Course in 2006, London and was also invited to lecture and conduct the workshop at 2nd Advanced Transplant Course at The Hammersmith Hospital. As a Deputy Educational Supervisor, she actively participated in mentoring, assessing the performance of junior doctors as well as day to day teaching and training. As a Consultant in Anaesthesia in Al Corniche Hospital, Dr. Kotyra is involved in looking after obstetric elective and emergency patients. As a Lead Clinician for audit, Dr. Kotyra takes part in an active in-service education programme which includes audit, monthly statistic meetings and maternal and infant morbidity meetings. She is also a member of H1N1 task force in the hospital.

Awards:
Dr. Zofia was the co-author of a study, which received the prestigious Maurtrice P Hudson Prize awarded by The Royal College of Anaesthetists, Academic& Research Committee in 2006. ( Kalbag A, Kotyra Z, M Richards, K Spearpoint, SJ Brett Long term survival and residual hazard after in-hospital cardiac arrest. Resuscitation 2006; Vol.68 p70-83).
