Cathy Van Harmelen is a graduate from the University of Pretoria South Africa in 2005, Cathy has extensive experience treating orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders, post-operative conditions and sports injuries. She has a special interest in treating back and neck disorders using manual mobilization, manipulation, pain relief methods and motor-control retraining. She also specializes in pain disorders resulting from faulty biomechanics, poor posture, overuse or sports injuries. Another special interest of mine is the rehabilitation of tendonopathies. This includes; Achilles Tendinopathy, Tennis Elbow, Patellar Tendonopahty and others.

In addition to her physiotherapy degree, Cathy has further studied spinal manual therapy at Curtin University of Technology, Australia. She specializes in dry needling, shoulder pain management, manual therapy and upper extremity treatment,extensive medical taping, and vertebral/peripheral joint disorders. She completed a certification course in Advanced Sports Rehabilitation in Perth, Australia. Together with this a Stott Pilates Rehab – Spinal, Pelvic and Scapular Stabilization course and the NeuroKinetic Therapy course are also part of her repertoire.

Cathy has been involved in numerous sporting events in South Africa and the Dubai Rugby Sevens. Her personal motto is that the pain caused by overuse, misuse,and disuse can be treated through her skills and knowledge as a physiotherapist.
