Dr. Amber Syed

Dr. Amber Syed joins HealthBay having served as Head of Department in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Al Zahra Hospital Dubai. Dr. Syed trained as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K., and has nearly 20 years of experience. For her contribution to the specialty, she has recently been elevated to the position of Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists U.K. (FRCOG).

Prior to her move to Dubai, she was working as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff, the largest hospital in Wales. Dr. Syed is an advocate of natural childbirth and she sees her role as supportive rather than interventional and supports women’s choices surrounding childbirth. She invests a lot of time and effort in building a relationship with her clients, and believes that there is no such thing as “standard care”. Care must be above standard and is individualized and tailor-made according to the needs and wishes of each client. She believes in the principle of “first do no harm”, which is the epitome of medical care and that communication with colleagues and patients is vital towards the provision of safe care and ensuring positive outcomes.

Dr. Syed is a skilled obstetrician and gynaecologist with a special interest in the management of early pregnancy complications such as miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy, management of high-risk pregnancies, vaginal surgery, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
