Dr. Arezu Zara Akhavan

Dr. Zara Akhavan is an expert in all areas of dentistry with over 16 years of experience from Canada, U.S.A., and U.A.E.

After graduating from McGill University in Physiology, she received a title of Doctor of Dental Medicine at Faculty of Dentistry at the same University. Her goal to continue further with her education, sends her to Baltimore in U.S.A. in 2004, to the University of Maryland and Advanced General Dentistry Clinic. AGD is a post-doctoral clinic, where dentists who have completed dental school and are receiving 1-2 additional years of training in advanced general dentistry provide treatment under the supervision of faculty dentists.

During her studies in Montreal, she has been a volunteer in different programs and healthcare facilities including St. John’s Ambulance, Jewish General Hospital and Outreach program, where she has developed excellent doctor-patients skills.

Dr. Zara’s passion for travel and dentistry has resulted by her working and living in different parts of the world. Her professional career started in Montreal, Canada in 1996, when she has been working for three years as Dental Surgeon Assistant at Bayat Dental Clinic. During her stay in U.S.A., she worked at University of Maryland Dental Clinic, where she handled treatment of patients involving multidisciplinary needs, as well as medically compromised patients.

In 2006, she has decided to relocate to Dubai, which has followed her joining to Dr. Akel’s Dental Clinic, where she worked as full-time cosmetic and GP dentist till 2011. From 2012 she has worked at Emirates Hospital & CosmeSurge Clinics, as cosmetic and family dentist, upon her recent joining to HealthBay.

Dr. Zara is a member of reputed association, more specifically American Dental Association, U.A.E. Dental Association and Academy of General Dentists from U.S.A.
