Dr. Assem Al Hajj (FACS)

Dr. Asim Al-Hajj is a highly respected Consultant General Surgeon at Emirates Specialty Hospital who specializes in minimally invasive general, thyroid and breast surgery. He is known for his compassionate care and multidisciplinary approach. Dr. Al-Hajj is an internationally recognized expert in many surgical techniques, introducing new techniques in breast oncosurgery to improve surgical outcomes for breast cancer patients. Dr. Al-Hajj evaluates over 2,500 clinical cases and performs 900 surgical cases per year.

Dr. Hajj completed his MD in June 1989, his internship in June 1990, and his residency in general surgery in June 1994 at the American University of Beirut – Medical Center. He then pursued a fellowship in general and gastrointestinal surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School from February 1996 to June 1997. Dr. Hajj established a private practice in general surgery in 1997.

In 2004, Dr. Hajj was appointed as a full-time general surgeon and medical director at Clemenceau Medical Center, located in Beirut, Lebanon and affiliated with Johns Hopkins International.
His expertise extends from multiple surgical cases to advanced thyroid surgeries, breast surgeries and laparoscopic surgeries including morbid obesity.

Dr. Al-Hajj holds the Arab Board Certificate in General Surgery and is licensed to practice in Lebanon as a member of the Lebanese Medical Association. He served as President of the American College of Surgeons – Lebanon Branch for two years. He is also specialized in endocrine surgeries and is proficient in all procedures related to thyroidectomy with neck dissection and thyroidectomy.
