Dr. Maria Ines Viola

Dr Maria Ines Viola was born in Argentina and currently resides in Dubai with her husband and two daughters. She studied medicine at the University of Buenos Aires, graduating with distinction in 2001.

Post-graduation, as part of her internship in gynaecology and reproductive medicine, she worked in Barcelona, Spain and North Carolina, USA, from 2001-2002.

In 2003, after winning a post, she started her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Hospital Materno Infantil Ramon Sarda in Buenos Aires and qualified as an OBGYN specialist in 2007. The hospital is accredited by UNICEF/OMS assisting high-risk obstetric patients and performing between 6000 to 7000 deliveries a year.

After obtaining her specialisation, Dr Viola undertook a sub-specialisation in infertility at IFER, Institute of Gynaecology and Fertility in Buenos Aires, where she trained and worked from 2007 to 2009. IFER, affiliated with the University of Buenos Aires, is one of the most prestigious IVF centres within Argentina and South America and completes approximately 1800 in-vitro procedures per year.

Midway through 2009, Dr Viola moved to Cape Town, South Africa, to take a consultant position at Tygerberg Hospital. The hospital is a tertiary education hospital, the largest in the Western Cape and the second largest in South Africa. It acts as a teaching hospital in conjunction with Stellenbosch University’s Health Science Faculty, where she also had lecturer and academic responsibilities.

During this period, she completed her Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch under the mentorship of Prof. Thinus Kruger, world-renowned for his work in the field of IVF and male infertility. Subsequently, in 2014, Dr Viola qualified as a sub-specialist in Reproductive Medicine at the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa.

In early 2015, Dr Viola relocated to Dubai, UAE, to work as an obstetrician and gynaecologist. Part of her job, is infertility, which she is passionate about and believes in a holistic and personalised approach (applying international and evidence-based standards) in providing exceptional care to her patients, giving them the support required to feel comfortable and safe.
