Dr. Maria Lopez

Dr Maria Angustia Del Aguila Lopez is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist with over 17 years’ experience in the field. She specialises in paediatric and orthopaedic anaesthesia, but also has experience in obstetrics, bariatrics, and head and neck anaesthesia.

After graduating from Granada University in Spain, she undertook anaesthetic training at King’s College Hospital, UK. She then worked as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at The Hospital Morales Meseguer in Spain for two years, before moving to Croydon University Hospital, London, UK in 2004. In addition to her role as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Dr Lopez is also an examiner for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, both in the UK and in other countries.

Dr Lopez adopts a holistic approach to patient care, focusing on quality, safety and patient satisfaction. She believes good communication is vital, to ensure that the patient understands every aspect of the anaesthetic experience and their management plan.

When not at the hospital, Dr Lopez enjoys spending time with her husband Gwynne, who is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital, Dubai.
